With their solid vocals and right mix of pop, R&B and original hits, Freestyle successfully converted the more than three thousand spectators who flocked to the Mindanao Civic Center gymnasium into avid fans last May 23.

The concert is one of the major activities sponsored by the provincial government as it gears up for grandest celebration of its 50th Araw ng Lanao del Norte on July 4 this year.

“We are very happy to be invited here in Lanao del Norte. We are amazed to see the beautiful facilities that you have here like the Mindanao Civic Center complex”, said Freestyle vocalist Jinky Vidal.

The members of the country’s best-loved band are Mike Luis (formerly of Brand New Funk, Next Level), and Joshua Desiderio (formerly of Kindred Garden, Art & Soul), Rommel de la Cruz on bass (formerly of Barbie’s Cradle), Gerald Banzon (drums), Nikki Cabardo (keyboards), Tat Suzara (guitar), and Jinky Vidal (vocals).

“This is just one of the event sponsored by the provincial government headed by our dynamic Governor Mohamad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo as we set the stage for the grandest celebration of the Golden Anniversary of Araw ng Lanao del Norte”, Provincial Information Officer Lyndon Calica said.

Providing the fronts acts for Freestyle are two sensational local bands from the cities of Iligan and Tangub, Overdrive and All-Star.

“I envisioned this year’s celebration of the Araw ng Lanao del Norte to be the grandest ever. We have lined up a lot of activities that will highlight the economic gains of the province and will also showcase Lanao Norte’s beauty and bounty which we have been widely known for”, explained Governor Dimaporo.

Another awaited event is the concert of Bamboo, the country’s premier OPM rock band during the week-long celebration of the province’s golden anniversary this July. (VNL/PIO-LDN)
